Porsche Repair, Service and History
Porsche is a German automaker focused on creating high-performance sports cars. The company is owned by Volkswagen Automotive Group, stationed in Stuttgart.
Founded by Ferdinand Porsche, with headquarters in the middle of Stuttgart. Porsche initially focused on motor vehicle development work and consulting. The company didn’t manufacture any cars yet. One of the first tasks the company received from the government was to design a vehicle for the people. It resulted in the birth of the original Volkswagen Beetle, one of the most successful and iconic car designs of all time. Most of Porsche’s early work was to manufacture military versions of the Beetle for World War II. After the war, the founder, Ferdinand Porsche, was imprisoned for 20 months for war crimes. Meanwhile, his son, Ferry Porsche, developed the first Porsche, the 356, which was considered by many as the first Porsche vehicle. Ferdinand Porsche later had developed some models of his own, the Porsche 64, in 1939, but it never did pass over prototype status.
Due to its common origin story, both Porsche and Volkswagen always maintained a close relationship. However, each automotive company is now a highly successful separate brand. The Porsche 911 was considered by many as one of the most extraordinary sports cars ever built. The company has also introduced legendary supercars such as the 959, Carrera GT, and 918, which uses state-of-the-art hybrid technology and top-notch racecars, including the 962 and numerous others.
Porsche introduced an SUV, the Cayenne, in the early 2000s, to expand its customer base and revenue. Many Porsche fans globally are worried that this might remove the brand’s sporting legacy off the charts and soften the brand’s emphasis on exceptional performance, but the Cayenne has showcased the brand’s tradition successfully. It combined Porsche’s cutting-edge performance and driving impression with luxury and off-road capability. The success of the Cayenne led Porsche to introduce more high-quality vehicles, including a sports sedan, the Panamera, and a smaller crossover SUV, the Macan.
The company’s iconic logo was based on the coat of arms of the Free People’s State Württemberg of former Weimar Germany, which had Stuttgart as its capital. Since the cars are manufactured in Stuttgart, its arms were placed in the middle of the logo. Although the emblem was combined with the words Porsche and Stuttgart, it shows it is not a coat of arms because the heraldic triumphs don’t include names of the armiger nor the hometown in the shield.
Porsche’s current lineup includes the Cayman sports coupe, Panamera sport sedan, Cayenne SUV, Macan compact SUV, as well as the iconic 911 sports car, Boxster roadster and the 918-hybrid hypercar.
