Recently, I picked up my 89XJS V12 Convertible from the shop named Coventry Motors in Huntington Station. There was a significant number of problems like leaks, sensors, bad radiator, engine running cold in the winter time. In the summer it would almost overheat and it was a bloody mess overall. Car was not in the service for two years, simply putting I did not have the money. Car was drivable but I was extremely careful no to overheat the engine. It took about four weeks to fix it because there was a problem with finding parts and they could not be located easily. In order to find them, boys from Coventry, Peter, Bill, Andrew and the rest of the crew, were hunting for them in England, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and pretty much all over the world. Finally, my car was ready and running like a dream. Repairs were not cheap but the knowledgeable experts and the quality of their work is fucking incredible. There is no Jaguar in the world these boys can’t fix. Their talent and love for what they do is just incredible. You pay a ton of money, but it is worth it. There is no second guessing, switching parts or experimenting. These top-notch experts know right away what is the problem. They take a car for a ride, and approximately 45 minutes to an hour later they come back to the shop, make an appraisal and fix what needs to be fixed. I personally recommend Coventry to anybody who wants to buy a Jaguar and especially if it’s a vintage one in order to bring a car for general checkup and you will not be buying someone else’s nightmare even if the car looks like new. Believe me, I’ve learned my lesson when I bought a 1973 E-Type V12 2+2 with a manual transmission in 1982. This car was serviced by Cambridge mechanics in Inwood, Long Island. Cambridge mechanics did not tell me that the car was dying from all the rust at the bottom of my E-Type. I owned this car for 23 years and finally caved in on the left side. My heart was broken, love of my life was dead. It needed a total restoration, costs of $65,000 and two years of waiting time. I gave up and sold my treasure for parts for $2,500. If I would have known about the Coventry guys, I would still have my E-Type. This time it’s different, as soon as I bought my 1989 XJS Convertible, Coventry took care of it for past 16 years. Nobody else has touched my car during this time. There is a stratosphere of difference between Cambridge Motors and Coventry Motors. Coventry guys are honest, extremely decent professionals with huge ethics of running a high-class auto shop. My advice to you is that if you are going to buy a Jaguar, especially a vintage one, take it to Coventry and you won’t be disappointed. These technicians are wizards of their profession, just remember not to go to cheap shops and go to the best. If you cannot afford, do not buy a Jag, buy a second-hand Toyota Camry. If you are a Jaguar lover, you must know that Jags are very finicky, capricious, complicated and over engineered creatures, especially the vintage ones. You need to have a very strong heart and excellent blood pressure when it comes to paying the bills for the repairs. Vintage cars are for people with big balls, patience, lovers of the brand. However, there is a reward. If you are an old geezer and love woman, the E-Type XJS convertible is extension of your pecker. You will always get a lot of attention from ladies half of your age and even their daughters.

I have to say… I thought I knew something about front end alignments until I met Peter and team. Peter took the time to explain to me how a custom alignment for my BMW will improve its ride. He is professional, highly technical and strives to provide a high degree of customer satisfaction.
